Nearly two years in the making, At Last The Beginning... The Making Of Electric Ladyland is a sixty minute documentary based on Jimi's groundbreaking 1968 double album.

The story of Electric Ladyland is told here in words, music, and rare archival film footage. Among those contributing are Mitch Mitchell and Noel Redding from the Jimi Hendrix Experience, Eddie Kramer, who engineered the bulk of the Electric Ladyland studio sessions; and, in his last interview, Chas Chandler, who was responsible for nurturing Hendrix's early success and who managed his career.

Directed by Roger Pomphrey, The Making Of Electric Ladyland also features commentary from those who contributed to the album, including Traffic's Steve Winwood and Dave Mason, Buddy Miles, and the Jefferson Airplane's Jack Casady.

Each song on the double album is richly detailed. Eddie Kramer's track by track breakdown further revealed Hendrix's skillful use of the recording studio. Buddy Miles and Jack Casady returned to review the original session tapes for "Voodoo Chile", "Rainy Day, Dream Away", and "Still Raining, Still Dreaming". Casady plugged his bass and played along to the multi-track recording, immediately recapturing the spirit of the original session. Mike Finnigan provided a passionate demonstration of his Hammond Organ part for "Rainy Day, Dream Away" and "Still Raining, Still Dreaming".

One of the program's most compelling moments came when Chas Chandler and Eddie Kramer sat behind the recording console for the first time since the Electric Ladyland sessions to analyze such unforgettable music as "Crosstown Traffic" and "All Along The Watchtower".

Complete with rare footage and never before seen photographs of Hendrix, this comprehensive program provides revealing insight into the life, work, and musical genius of a rock legend.

A special edition CD-ROM, which features additional material not included as part of the VHS and DVD editions is also available. This dual format CD-ROM supports both Windows and Mac operating systems
