Jimi holds his first formal recording session at Electric Lady Studios. Work on this evening focused on retooling "Ezy Rider", a recording begun at the Record Plant in December 1969 and a new recording "All God's Children".
Later that evening, Jimi welcomed friends Steve Winwood and Chris Wood from Traffic to the studio. With Mitch Mitchell unavailable, Eddie Kramer volunteered assistant engineer [and former Amboy Dukes drummer] Dave Palmer to sit in on drums for an impromptu jam session.
Before departing, Winwood and Wood would also lend backing vocals to "Ezy Ryder". Their efforts can be heard on both versions of the song that have been released. The work in progress track recorded on this evening has been issued on the Jimi Hendrix Experience box set. The completed master is now a part of First Rays Of The New Rising Sun.
