Jimi made his second appearance at the Swing Auditorium on this evening. His first performance had been with the original Experience in September 1968 Jimi had a surprise in store for his audience on this evening, opening the show with the rarely performed "All Along The Watchtower". Despite the song's popularity, Jimi regularly spurned audience requests in 1968 and 1969 for the song. On the 1970 tour, "All Along The Watchtower" became an occasional component of Jimi's stage repertoire.
Although no one but Jimi understood his motives on such issues, Billy Cox was eager for the group to tackle them onstage. "Those songs were new to me," Cox recalls. "I wanted to play those songs. I wanted him to play "Crosstown Traffic" but we never got around to rehearsing it."
