That's What I Am marks Eric's adult debut as a solo artist. Many music fans will avidly recall the albums Eric recorded in the early to mid-90's, as a solo artist and with The Gales Brothers. Those recordings proved that even as a young teen, Eric laid claim to extraordinary musical talents. "What I've noticed about people like Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray, and a lot of the really great musicians, is that they are tunred into, I don't want to sound mystical here, but I don't know how else to say it, but it's like they are tuned into a higher realm of consciousness in thier playing," explains Tommy Shannon. And he should know - for more than 33 years Simmonds has been leader of one of the original British-blues bands, Savoy Brown. Founded in 1966 at the crossroads of the British invasion and America's increased export of blues music; they were, in part, responsible for what would become one of the most influential periods in rock 'n' roll history.
