Experience Hendrix in conjunction with American Cinematheque is pleased to announce the Los Angeles debut of the acclaimed film Blue Wild Angel: Jimi Hendrix Live At The Isle Of Wight. The Los Angeles premiere is set to kick-off the 4th annual Mod Fest, dubbed "Mods & Rockers 2002" which opens June 27 at the historic Egyptian Theatre in Los Angeles.

Co-produced by Janie Hendrix and John McDermott and Directed by Academy Award Winner Murray Lerner, the 7:30pm showing of Blue Wild Angel: Jimi Hendrix Live At The Isle Of Wight is a stunning visual document that captures Jimi Hendrix at the height of his powers. The 102-minute film captures the guitarist roaring through "All Along The Watchtower", "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)" and a unique medley of "God Save The Queen" and "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band." Band members Mitch Mitchell, Billy Cox and others recount the electric atmosphere at the Isle of Wight Festival in 1970, which also featured The Who, the Doors and Miles Davis.

The story behind Blue Wild Angel is almost as interesting: the festival promoters agreed to let filmmaker Murray Lerner document their landmark event. However, financial and other difficulties prevented the movie from being completed for over 25 years. Lerner finally secured the funds to complete his film, and he incorporated the performances and backstage shenanigans into the acclaimed documentary Message To Love: The Isle Of Wight Festival Of Music. Lerner's latest offering Blue Wild Angel focuses solely on Hendrix's performance at the festival, including much never-before seen footage.

The annual two-week film festival sponsored by American Cinematheque features some of the world's biggest movie stars, coolest Sixties musicians and most talented movie directors. In addition to the Los Angeles premiere of Blue Wild Angel: Jimi Hendrix At The Isle Of Wight, "Mods & Rockers 2002" will show a host of films including The Magic Christian, Wonderwall, The Kids Are Alright, Tommy, and Murray Lerner's other biopic, Listening To You: The Who At The Isle Of Wight.
