PRESS RELEASE

August 20, 2002
Seattle, WA

Over the past few weeks, several newspapers, magazines, radio and television stations have publicized the plans of Leon Hendrix to sue the personal representatives of the estate of James Allen Hendrix ("Al"), in an effort to overturn Al's Will and Living Trust. Al, who died in April of this year, was the father of musician Jimi Hendrix. In 1995, Al transferred the rights to Jimi's music to a family company, Experience Hendrix, L.L.C.

Leon's lawsuits were finally filed at the end of last week. The suits appear to be the latest attempt of Leon to capitalize on Jimi's fame and legacy, and are based upon allegations which falsely depict both Al Hendrix and Janie Hendrix. The pleadings reflect the sad story of a man who has made many bad choices in his life, is unhappy with the natural consequences of those choices and continues to lay the blame at the feet of others. The management of Experience Hendrix is confident that truth will prevail and the claims will be rejected in these legal proceedings.

While the proceedings are in a public forum, the claims made represent Leon's imagined personal grievances against members of the Hendrix family. The management of Experience Hendrix therefore believes it is inappropriate to comment in further detail at this time. Experience Hendrix wishes Leon the best of luck in his own musical career and will continue to focus its attention on the protection and publication of Jimi's musical legacy.
