Legendary guitarist Jimi Hendrix to join a new line up of international musical legends honored in recognition of their outstanding contribution to contemporary music during November 16 induction ceremony for the UK Music Hall of Fame.

(Seattle, WA - November 8, 2005) Legendary guitarist Jimi Hendrix will be inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame during star-studded awards ceremony on November 16, 2005 in London. The UK Music Hall of Fame is Great Britain's answer to America's Rock & Roll Hall of Fame & Museum and honors musicians for their lifetime achievements and outstanding contributions to contemporary music.

This year's event marks the second year for the UK music honors which will see Hendrix inducted alongside fellow musical stalwarts Pink Floyd, The Who, The Kinks, Joy Division/New Order, Eurythmics and one of Hendrix's own influential contemporaries - Bob Dylan. Island Records founder Chris Blackwell and the late John Peel will also be inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame as part of its class of 2005. The November 16th event will be broadcast throughout the UK on November 17 (Channel 4, 9:00 p.m.) as part of the broadcaster's two-week tribute to great moments in classic rock. VH1 in America, will rebroadcast the event on November 29th with additional broadcasters picking up the program throughout the coming weeks throughout the world.

This year's Hall of Fame inductees join five founding members previously inducted during ceremonies in 2004, including Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Bob Marley, U2, and Madonna. In addition to the five founding members, five additional artists were also inducted as a result of a public vote, including The Rolling Stones, Queen, Michael Jackson, Robbie Williams and Cliff Richard & The Shadows.

The highlight of each year's ceremony includes the live performances and tributes to the honorees. As part of this year's series of tributes to Jimi Hendrix, original Jimi Hendrix Experience drummer Mitch Mitchell will be on hand to induct Hendrix into the Hall Of Fame. Mitchell will later be joined on stage by bassist, Billy Cox; guitarists Slash and Steve Winwood plus Living Colour vocalist Corey Glover who will perform two different Hendrix compositions.

Coinciding with Hendrix's induction into the UK Music Hall of Fame, Channel 4 television in the UK is set to broadcast the documentary Jimi Hendrix - The Road To Woodstock immediately following the November 9th showing of The World's Greatest Gigs in which Hendrix's monumental performance (dubbed "the ultimate 60s event") at the Woodstock Art & Music Fair on August 18, 1969 was acclaimed as the #2 live concert performance in music history.
