(SEATTLE, WA) - On March 16, 2006 Experience Hendrix and Image Entertainment contributed $5,000 in Jimi Hendrix's name to the United Negro College Fund's (UNCF) Jimi Hendrix Endowment Fund Scholarship to assist young music and art majors who are enrolled at any one of 39 different UNCF member institutions. The most recent contribution to the UNCF has come as a result of royalties generated through ongoing sales of the Power Of Soul: A Tribute To Jimi Hendrix album.

Founded in 1993, The Jimi Hendrix Endowment Fund Scholarship was created upon the release of the platinum selling, Stone Free: A Tribute To Jimi Hendrix (Reprise Records, 1993) as a means of assisting young students further their post-secondary education in the art and music fields. The Jimi Hendrix Scholarship-offered in allotments between $2,000 and $5,000-is available to eligible students earning a 2.5GPA or higher and enrolled in any one of 39 UNCF membership colleges and universities.

"All of the producers and participating artists embraced our commitment to continue supporting the scholarship fund in Jimi Hendrix's name at the United Negro College Fund," explains Janie Hendrix. "Since the fund's inception, monies generated in the past have already begun to make the dreams of many students bear fruit at thirty-nine UNCF affiliated schools across the United States."

Contributing artist Kenny Olson (lead guitarist for Kid Rock) applauds the funding of the UNCF saying, "Jimi had such a major impact on all walks of life, musically, more so that anybody else. It's just amazing what he what he's done for the world of music himself. The guy wasn't a taker he was a giver with everything that he did."

Contributions to the UNCF are made regularly through royalties collected from the ongoing sales of Power Of Soul: A Tribute To Jimi Hendrix and Stone Free: A Tribute To Jimi Hendrix. Since its inception, The Jimi Hendrix Endowment Fund Scholarship has helped many young students from all backgrounds expand their potential in the field of music and art.
