JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE: LIVE AT THE HOUSTON MUSIC HALL

On February 18, 1968, The Jimi Hendrix Experience rolled into Houston, Texas where they were set to perform that evening at the Houston Music Hall. As with their three previous Texas shows, The Experience were once again supported by The Moving Sidewalks (featuring a young Billy Gibbons who would later form ZZ Top), Neal Ford & The Fanatics, and Soft Machine.

The Experience's 50-plus minute set delivers all the gusto that the enthusiastic audience had expected. This raw, audience recording features starts off with a brief introduction by the local emcee before Hendrix leads The Experience through a rousy set including: "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band," "Fire," "Hey Joe," "Foxey Lady," "The Wind Cries Mary," "I Don't Live Today," "Catfish Blues," "Purple Haze," and "Wild Thing." [ listen now ]

JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE: LIVE AT THE HONOLULU INTERNATIONAL CENTER ARENA

Following directly on the heels of the group's performances atop the Haleakala Crater on the Island Of Maui, The Experience flew to Oahu where they performed on the evening of August 1, 1970 at the Honolulu International Center (HIC) Arena. In contrast to the shambling, hastily arranged affair the previous afternoon before the film cameras, The Experience were in top form on this evening. This new and previously unreleased tape has recently been uncovered and provides an insighful look at what became the final US Concert ever performed by Jimi Hendrix. Although this recording is incomplete, tapers Jim and Bill Worthley managed to preserve "Straight Ahead," "Ezy Ryder," "Hey Baby (New Rising Sun)," "Spanish Castle Magic," and the majority of "Red House" before the tape runs out.
